Altea by car: what to know
Altea is a whitewashed hilltop town on the Costa Blanca, between Benidorm and Calp. A car gives you easy access to the coast, the mountains inland and Alicante airport.
Getting there
Alicante airport (ALC) is about 60 km south, roughly 50 minutes by motorway. Valencia airport is also an option at around an hour and a half. Altea is small, so a car collected on arrival covers the whole stay.
Day trips from Altea
Benidorm is about 10 minutes away and Calp, with the Peñón de Ifach, about 15. Inland, the Algar waterfalls and the castle village of Guadalest are within half an hour, and Alicante or Dénia work well as half-day trips.
Parking tips
The old town on the hill has narrow streets and very little parking. Leave the car in the lower town or by the seafront and walk up. Blue zones along the seafront are paid during the day.
